Course description:
This is an Integrated Training and Assessment six day course leading to an NPTC qualification. This course covers maintenance, cross-cutting and felling small trees up to 380mm in diameter. It is suitable for someone who intends to use the chainsaw for business, domestic and intends to work in forestry.
The course aims to enable delegates to:
- Identify appropriate PPE
- Identify safety features on a chainsaw
- Identify faults and defects
- Maintain guide bar and sharpen chains as recommended
- Fell small trees up to 380 mm
- Carry out manufacturers routine maintenance
- Start saw from cold and hot
- Assess hazards in relation to task and ascertain correct technique of dealing with same.

Entry requirements:
There are no formal entry requirements. Candidates are expected to bring their own protective clothing: boots, leggings, helmet and gloves, which must be chainsaw approved. All equipment can be hired at an extra cost.
