This qualification is the first step for the candidate who wishes to start spraying in the future and leads to the nationally recognised NPTC standard.
The teaching and testing will cover the following:

- Interpretation of pesticide labels and literature
- Personal safety
- Storing pesticides
- Disposal of pesticides
- Dealing with contamination
- Keeping records
- Environmental factors
- Water protection
