£500 offer for part-time higher education and professional qualifications

If you are 16 or over and living in Scotland you could get up to £500 towards part-time higher education and professional qualification courses – you just need to have an income of £22,000 a year or less and want to undertake learning which involves studying 40 Scottish Credit and Qualifications Framework (SCQF) credits or more an academic year.

Higher education courses, Professional Development Awards (PDA) and Continuing Professional Development (CPD) courses at SCQF levels 7 - 10 are eligible for this funding.  Scottish Vocational Qualifications (SVQ) at level 4 as well as some at level 3, are also eligible.

And for academic year 2010 - 11 you can also get up to £500 towards eligible part - time taught postgraduate courses, PDA and CPD courses at SCQF level 11.  Scottish Vocational Qualifications (SVQ) at level 5 are also eligible.

Only courses that meet this criteria, and are delivered by ILA Scotland approved learning providers, will be eligible for funding.

This offer not only relieves pressure on existing part-time students on lower incomes, it also opens up new opportunities for people considering part-time study to re-train or build their skills.

Application packs are available by calling the ILA Scotland helpline free on 0808 100 1090 or go online at www.ilascotland.org.uk
