New ILA Scotland £500 offer for Part-Time Higher Education courses
From this summer, if you are 16 or over and living in Scotland could get up to £500 towards part-time higher education courses – you just need to have an income of £18,000 a year or less and be studying 50% or more of the time needed to complete a higher education qualification.
Higher education courses are defined at SCQF levels 7, 8, 9 and 10. This can be a Higher National Certificate (HNC), Higher National Diploma (HND) or an undergraduate degree (see table for more information).
Only courses that meet this criteria, and are delivered by ILA Scotland approved learning providers, will be eligible for funding.
The new offer will not only relieve pressure on existing part-time students on lower incomes, it also opens up new opportunities for people considering part-time study to re-train or build their skills.
Application packs will be available from the end of June 2008 and can be obtained by calling the ILA Scotland helpline free on 0808 100 1090.
