How do learners apply?
Applying for ILA Scotland could not be simpler.
All the learner has to do is decide which type of account to apply for then contact ILA Scotland free on 0808 100 1090 or go online at www.ilascotland.org.uk to request an application pack.
If you work with learners who are not able to make this call due to a disability or for other reasons please contact ILA Scotland to discuss this. However if your learners lack the confidence to make the call or request an application pack online, why not sit with them while they make the call or use the online application request.

Application packs are also available in Polish, Cantonese, Urdu, Gaelic, Hindi, Punjabi, large print, Braille or audio (CD). These can be viewed in the communications materials section.
ILA Scotland will send the learner an application pack with guidance notes and this should be returned to ILA Scotland in the post-paid envelope.
Why not help the learner complete the application form or encourage them to bring it back to you to be proof read?
Note:
If you work with learners who have prison status, the application process is slightly different. For more information, view the guidelines for the ILA Scotland application process for learners with prison status.
What happens next?
If the learner has applied for a £200 account, ILA Scotland will then send the learner a welcome pack which they should expect to receive 2 weeks after their application is received by ILA Scotland.
The welcome pack will include a Learner Guide to assist them in choosing learning and using their funds. In addition they can call the ILA Scotland helpline on 0808 100 1090 to speak with a trained adviser if they need further advice or guidance on choosing a course. The welcome pack will also include a unique learning account number which will be found on the covering letter. This number must be kept safe as the learner will require it to book a course.
The learner should be reminded not to give this number to anyone, including their learning provider, until they have chosen their course and are ready to book. If anyone presses them to give them their account number before they enrol for a course they should tell ILA Scotland.
If the learner chooses to apply for a £500 account, it works slightly differently. ILA Scotland will write to let the learner know if their application has been successful. If the course is eligible for funding, we will send an Award letter that the learner must take along to their learning provider so that they know how much ILA Scotland will be contributing towards the cost of the course.
For your reference all the materials that the learner will receive from ILA Scotland can be viewed in the Communications Materials section.
