How does it work?
ILA Scotland provides the learner with up to £200, per learner year, to be used for their choice of eligible learning. How the learner uses these funds is up to them, they might want to use it for one single course or for several smaller courses throughout the year.
Here is an example of how funds could be spent:
Example
Jane Smith opens an account from ILA Scotland in January 2008. She has £200 in her account.
In February she chooses an Office Administration course that costs £160. ILA Scotland pays her course fees in full. Jane now has £40 left in her account.
In August, she chooses an Excellent Customer Service course that costs £70. ILA Scotland contributes the £40 left in her account towards the course and Jane pays the balance of £30 to the learning provider.
In December 2008 Jane would contact ILA Scotland and ask them to send her an account renewal pack. To qualify again, Jane would have to provide evidence that she still has an income of £22,000 or less per year.
If Jane does provide evidence she would have another £200 put into her account. If she now has and income of more than £22,000 per year she is no longer eligible for ILA Scotland funding.
