How to book learning
For learners wishing to use their funding, the next stage is for the learner to select a course and check with ILA Scotland that it is eligible.
Eligibility can be confirmed by calling the ILA Scotland helpline on 0808 100 1090 or by searching the ILA Scotland course database.
- The learner should book their course directly with the learning provider and tell them that they want to use their ILA Scotland funds to pay for it.
- At this time the learner should provide their unique learning account number to the learning provider. This will allow the learning provider to book the course on the ILA Scotland system.
- The learner will receive a letter from ILA Scotland to confirm that they have been booked on the course.
- Attached to the letter is their learning token which they should use to pay for the learning they have booked. The learner must sign and date the token and give it to the learning provider when starting their course if they want to use their ILA Scotland funds to pay for that course. ILA Scotland funding will only ever be released to the learner as a token and never as monies.
- The learning provider then submits the token to ILA Scotland to claim payment. When this has been done, the learner will receive a statement from ILA Scotland showing that funds have been taken from their account to pay for the course. If the learner does not receive a statement, they should check with their learning provider to make sure that they have sent the token to ILA Scotland.
- At this stage the learner should also pay any balance of their course fees not covered by their ILA Scotland funds directly to the learning provider if they have not done so already.
