ILA Scotland

13.0 Marketing

13.1 What specific actions are being taken to reach low income learners?

In developing our marketing approach to low income learners, we have been very aware that we are focusing on a section of the population that can be very resistant to learning and for whom advertising alone will not be sufficient to engage them.

On this basis we are working with a number of key partners such as the STUC, Careers Scotland, Communities Scotland and the voluntary sector to support them in promoting ILA Scotland directly to their members and clients.  In addition to promoting ILA Scotland, it is also hoped that these organisations can provide a further layer of support and guidance for individuals, for instance helping them to complete the application form or choose a course that would be right for them.

13.2 Can you give us some examples of what is acceptable marketing activity and what isn’t acceptable?

The ILA Scotland Marketing Guidelines provide a comprehensive outline of acceptable and unacceptable marketing practices.
If you are in any doubt regarding planned marketing activity you should contact the ILA Scotland Marketing Team on 0141 285 6104.

13.3 Does our publicity material need to be approved if it does not carry the ILA Scotland logo but mentions ILA Scotland?

Yes.  Even if your ILA Scotland promotional material does not contain the ILA Scotland logo, it should be submitted to the ILA Scotland marketing team for approval.

13.4 Can we use our own symbols in brochures to indicate if a course is eligible?

Yes, you may use your own symbols to denote which courses attract ILA Scotland funding.

13.5 Does website content have to be approved where it is showing ILA Scotland related materials?

All communications relating to ILA Scotland should be sent to the ILA Scotland marketing team for review and approval prior to publishing either printed or web-based materials.  Information should be sent by email to marketing@ilascotland.org.uk.
