Quality Standards
Registered ILA Scotland learning providers must, as a minimum requirement, meet one or more of the following quality standards stipulated by Skills Development Scotland (SDS):
- Scottish Funding Council recognition of good standing regarding Quality Assurance Agency (QAA) for Higher Education and/or recognition of good standing regarding the requirements of HM Inspectorate of Education (HMIE)
- Scottish Qualifications Authority (SQA) approval as an SQA-approved centre
- Approved learndirect scotland branded learning centre.
These standards provide a clear and explicit basis for understanding the quality management systems and processes which will need to be applied in your provision of ILA Scotland-funded learning opportunities.
If you do not currently hold one of these standards and are interested in finding out more about them, go to our Useful Links section.
To apply to become an ILA Scotland registered learning provider, you must have held at least one of the recognised quality standards for the past 6 months. You will also need to agree to comply with the quality standards at all times during your registration with ILA Scotland.
April 2006
SQMS certification no longer recognised
Following the closure of Babcock Enterprise Ltd, the organisation responsible for the delivery of SQMS audit services, we regret to announce that we will no longer recognise SQMS certification as being a qualifying quality standard for the ILA Scotland scheme for any ILA Scotland submission received after 5th April 2006.
Existing learning providers who qualified for participation in the ILA Scotland scheme on the basis of meeting the SQMS quality standard will be able to remain in the scheme until such time as their existing SQMS certification expires.
